Two madrasa teachers have been arrested from Chapainawabganj’s Gomostapur upazila on charges of disrespecting Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The arrested are Baurtala Dakhil Madrasa Superintendent Abdus Salam and Assistant Teacher Golam Kabir.
Gomostapur police station Office-in-Charge (OC) Dilip Kumar Das said: “On Wednesday morning, bread was cut instead of cake to observe Bangabandhu’s birth centenary at Baurtala Dakhil Madrasa and a derisive video of the program was spread on social media, sparking a storm of criticism among local Awami League leaders and activists.”
Salam cut the bread and Kabir broadcasted it live on Facebook, reports UNB.
They were arrested after the Awami League’s Boalia unit President Jillur Rahman filed a case in this connection under the Digital Security Act, mentioned the OC.
