The four accused are on the run
A case has been filed against four people, in connection with the rape of a garment worker, in Bogra.
The main accused in the case, identified as Harun Mollah, 30, reportedly forcibly kidnapped a female garment worker, with the help of three of his friends, and allegedly raped her in Shildahabari area of Bogra upazila on February 24.
The victim filed the case with Gabtali police station in Bogra on Saturday afternoon, said Police Inspector (Operations) Lal Miya.
The rape survivor's is scheduled to be medically examined at Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital on Sunday, police confirmed.
The accused are Harun Mollah, 19, son of Bablu Mollah of Shildahbari Pashchimpara village in Gabtali upazila, Raihan Pramanik, 19, son Mojnu Pramanik, Sabuj Mollah, 22, and Touhid Mollah, 23.
The rape survivor is an employee of Swapan Garment in Durgahata Bazaar from Pachkaunia para village in Gabtali upazila.
She was walking home from work when Harun, Raihan, Sabuj and Touhid blocked her way around 7pm.
Then they reportedly grabbed her and tied her hands and feet with a rope. Later, they took her to a bamboo bush next to Sabuj’s house, and Harun reportedly raped her.
Locals rescued the rape survivor after the incident and took her home.
The woman said she could not seek help from police right after the incident because the relatives of the accused tried to settle the incident amicably.
The accused are on the run. Operation is underway to arrest them as soon as possible, police said.
