It took around four hours for eight firefighting units to put out the blaze
A fire broke out at export-oriented NZ Textile Mill in Balaikhan area of Golakandail union in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj at around 1:15pm on Tuesday.
Upon receiving information, eight units of fire fighters from Demra, Kanchan, Araihazar, and Adamji rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after a four-hour-long effort.
The fire started from an electrical short circuit. No casualties were reported in this incident.
The fire destroyed a large amount of goods including raw materials, cotton, yarn, cloth, garments, and machinery.
Benazir Ahmed Bhuiyan, director of NZ Group, said the fire had caused extensive damage to the factory. The amount of damage is being calculated. However, it is initially thought that a loss of Tk30-35 crore has occurred.
Narayanganj District Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Mahin Faraji, Rupganj Upazila Executive Officer Shah Nusrat Jahan and Rupganj Police Officer-in-Charge Mohsinul Qadir visited the spot.
