A case has been filed against two people in connection with the triple murder in Mir Mahalla in BIDC area of Sylhet suburb.
Of the two accused Mahbub Hossain Abad, 17, has been arrested whereas attempts are being made to arrest his mother Sultana Begum, 35, who has been charged in the case for inciting the murder.
She lives in Austagram area of Beanibazar upazila of Sylhet.
Abad killed his stemother and her two children in Mir Mahalla in BIDC area of Sylhet on Thursday night. After stabbing them with a knife, he then killed them using a steel spud.
The deceased were identified as Rubia Begum, 30, second wife of Abdal Hossain Bulbul, a grocer in BIDC area, her daughter Maha Begum, 9, and son Tahsan, 7. Police arrested Mahbub Hossain Abad with a blood-stained knife from the spot.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police's Shahparan police station OC Syed Anisur Rahman said that deceased Rubia's brother Anwar Hossain had filed the case against the two on Friday night.
The OC said the autopsy of the deceased mother and two children would be completed at the Osmani Medical College morgue on Saturday.
He said that three autopsies had to be done at once. Due to this, their autopsy could not be done on Friday.

According to police and local sources, Abdal Hossain Bulbul, 48, of Austagram in Beanibazar upazila of Sylhet has two wives.
His first wife lives with son Abad Hossain, 17, and a daughter in a house in Beanibazar upazila.
The second wife Rubia Begum lived with her husband in Mir Mahalla in the BIDC area with a daughter and a son. About 10 years ago, Abdal Hossain Bulbul married Rubia Begum, daughter of Farman Ali of Hatgram in Doubari union in Gowainghat upazila, Sylhet.
He has been running a grocery store in BIDC area for a long time. Abad Hossain came to Sylhet from Beanibazar one and a half months ago and had been helping in his father's business.
