The accident took place on Dhaka-Barisal Highway in the early hours of Saturday
Three people were killed in the early hours of Saturday after a covered van rammed into a parked mini truck on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway in Gournadi upazila.
The owner of the mini truck along with two drivers Akhter Boyati, 30, Md Rasel Hawlader, 22, and assistant Sohan Sarkar, 22, died instantly after the accident.
According to the Inspector of Gournadi Highway police station, at approximately 12am Saturday, a mini truck’s engine broke down. Later, the owner of the mini truck came with another mini truck to tow the out-of-order vehicle.
While the driver and the owner were busy tightening the ropes between the two vehicles, a covered van rammed one vehicle from the back. The drivers and the owner were crushed between the two mini trucks and died on the spot, he said.
After receiving the news, a firefighting team rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.
The bodies were delivered to the family without any autopsy as per the request of their family members.
