Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, Land O’Lakes Venture37 sign agreement

Land O’Lakes Venture37 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) under the Ministry of Food on Sunday.

The purpose of the MoU is to collaborate with BFSA to improve overall food safety environment and to increase market access by facilitating the agro-food industry in adopting food safety and quality measures of an international standard.

Md Maksudur Rahman, country director of Land O’Lakes Venture37 and Abdun Naser Khan, deputy secretary of Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations at the BFSA office on Sunday.

According to the MoU, Land O’Lakes Venture37 will mobilize volunteers from the USA to provide specialized technical assistance to help achieve increased agricultural and agro-food processing quality, productivity and profitability.

It also includes an enhanced application of food safety practices and systems, increased know-how and application of global market programs of Global Food Safety Initiatives requirements for food production and processing, strengthened agricultural and food processing institutions.

BFSA is an autonomous national food safety regulatory agency, which works as a statutory organization. It came into existence in 2015.

Land O’Lakes Venture37, being funded by USAID, is implementing the Farmer to Farmer Food Safety and Quality (F2F FSQ) program to address the important issues of food safety and quality with highly qualified volunteers.
