Fire guts yarn factory in Narayanganj

In the initial report, fire service officials say the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit

A fire broke out at a yarn factory named Jahin Spinning Mill Ltd in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj around 1:30am on Thursday.

Informed, eight units of Fire Service and Civil Defence from Araihazar, Madhabadi, Sonargaon and Kanchan responded to the scene and brought the fire under control after 7-8 hours, confirmed, Araihazar Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Officer Shahjahan Hossain.

The officer said the fire was completely extinguished at 11am.

In the initial report, fire service officials say the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.

Sheikh Asadullah, general manager (GM) of the company, said the fire was spotted at one side of the factory at 1:15am and in a few moments, the fire spread throughout the place.

The owners claim a loss of Tk15 crore, however, the extent of damage can be accurately determined only after an investigation, added the fire station officer.
