Two people, including the boatman, managed to swim ashore but Saddam remained missing
A garment worker, Saddam Hossain, went missing after diving off a boat into the Sitalakhya River, in order to avoid a more catastrophic accident at Nabiganj Kheyaghat of Narayanganj on Monday.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Narayanganj River Police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam said that the incident occurred around 9:30am, when three people on a boat apprehended a possible collision with a trawler in the river.
Two people, including the boatman, managed to swim ashore but 24-year-old Saddam remained missing.
On information, divers from the local fire station conducted a salvage operation to rescue the victim.
“Efforrts are underway to find the missing RMG worker,” the OC added.
