More than 600 vehicles carrying passengers and goods wait on both sides to cross the river
The ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River have resumed 10 hours after suspension due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
The ferry operations on the route resumed around 10am on Monday after visibility improved, said Zillur Rahman, acting deputy general manager (DGM) of BIWTC Aricha office.
Earlier, the authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) suspended the services around 12am to avoid accidents as visibility fell drastically due to thick fog, he said.
Due to the dense fog, four ferries anchored in the middle of the river.
More than 600 vehicles carrying passengers and goods were waiting on both sides to cross the river, our correspondent reported.
