The humanity displayed by one Asaduzzaman Rony, a resident of Tangail, who helped her, cannot be ignored
A mentally challenged woman has been reunited with her family after 11 years, thanks to the role of social media platform Facebook.
In the incident, the humanity displayed by Asaduzzaman Rony, a resident of Dhubria village in Nagarpur upazila of Tangail, cannot be ignored in any way.
He gave the woman shelter at his house for all these years and at the same time, had been trying to find out her identity.
However, the woman, 27, identified later as Durga Rani of Dinajpur, was handed over to her family on Thursday afternoon.
Rony, president of Dhubria Bazar Merchants' Association, said he found the woman wandering through the streets of Dhubria union in 2010.
"When asked about her identity, she was not able to provide any. Then, I sheltered her at my house and gave her a name, Laily.
"I continued to seek out her identity. At one stage, I wrote about it on Facebook and posted her picture.
"After 11 years, I was able to locate her family and address with the help of locals. I am very happy to bring the girl back to her family," he said.
