The clash reportedly took place over territorial dominance
A Rohingya refugee was killed in a gunfight between two rival groups at the Chakmarkul Rohingya camp in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Nur Hakim, 30.
As many as 10 Rohingyas were also injured during the incident.
The two factions were reportedly embroiled in the gunfight in a bid to establish dominance at the camp.
Camp in-Charge Inspector Monir Hossain of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) said the gunfight took place between two groups of robbers, which left one Rohingya dead and another 10 injured.
“The injured have been rescued and are being treated at a hospital under the supervision of Save the Children, an NGO. The body of the deceased was sent to the morgue for autopsy,” he added.
Police are trying to catch the culprits, Monir said.
