The accidents all occurred on Friday
At least 11 people were killed and 24 others injured in road accidents in six districts on Friday.
In Narsingdi, at least four people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a car at Jangua village in Belabo upazila on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at around 4pm on Friday.
Bhairab Highway Police Station OC Al Mamun confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Police and locals said a Sylhet-bound Al Mobaraka Paribahan bus from Dhaka reached Jangua and collided head-on with a car coming from Bhairab in the opposite direction.
The car was destroyed and four passengers of the car died on the spot. One was rushed to Bhairab Hospital in critical condition.
Upon receiving the news, Bhairab highway police recovered the vehicles from the scene of the crash.
In Bogra, a woman was killed when a bus collided with the girder of an under-construction bridge near Bhandar Jute Mill in Dargahat area of Kahaloo upazila on Bogra-Naogaon road around 12:30pm on Friday.
The deceased Fahima Begum, 40, from Baniapara village in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat, confirmed Kahaloo police station OC Zia Latiful Islam.
At least 10 people were injured at the time and they are being treated in different hospitals, he also said.
In Cox’s Bazar, three people were killed in a collision between a bus and a dump truck at the Baraitali Madrasa Gate area of Baraitali Union in Chakaria Upazila on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Highway at around 8:30am.
The deceased identified as dump truck driver Md Manik, 26, his assistant Tarekul Islam Babu, 22, died on the spot, while the other victim Mamtaz Ahmed, 28, a passenger of the bus, died while being taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Police and witnesses said that the passenger bus of Saudia Paribahan from Bandarban to Chittagong and the mud-filled dump truck from Pekua collided head-on upon reaching the madrasa gate area of Baraitali union in Chakaria upazila. The two vehicles were crumpled and the bus fell into a ditch beside the highway.
Traffic on both sides of the highway stopped for about half an hour. Traffic resumed after Chiringa highway police removed the dumper vehicle from the highway using a crane.
In Sylhet, a man was killed and nine others injured after a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Parganabazar in Sylhet on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Golam Mostofa, 38, son of late Aziz Bepari of Chankharpool area in Dhaka, reports UNB.
The accident occurred around 8am when a microbus carrying tourists from Dhaka collided head-on with a Sylhet-bound sand-laden truck, leaving 10 people injured.
Mostofa was pronounced dead after the injured had been taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Abdul Qayyum, officer-in-charge of Shah Paran police station, said 10 tourists came to Jaflong on Thursday night.
Their microbus reached Parganabazar in Sylhet in the morning when it crashed into a truck coming from the opposite direction.
In Noakhali, an elderly woman died after being hit by a speeding motorcycle in Char Jubli union under Subarnachar upazila.
The deceased Fatema Begum, 60, was headed to her local shop when the motorcycle hit her from behind Friday morning.
Char Jabbar police OC Ziaul Hoque said when locals rescued her to the Upazila Health Complex, the duty doctors declared her dead on arrival.
In Bhola, a motorcyclist died after colliding head-on with another motorcycle in South Sakuchia union under Monpura upazila.
The deceased Md Riaz, 18, a local, died on the spot, confirmed Monpura police OC Sakhawat Hossain.
