Five men on Saturday night gang-raped a woman in front of her husband, who was tied up, in Magura .
The couple, residents of the Boindekhali area under Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah Sadar, moved to the Jagla area of Magura district 20 days ago and were working in a farmhouse as day-laborers. As they have no permanent place to stay, they used to live in a tent made with polythene at a field in the area.
On Saturday night, a gang of five unknown men attacked them with sharp weapons and tied the husband up to a tree. Later, they raped the woman in front of him.
The criminals also stole Tk5, 000 from the tent and threatened them with harm if they informed police.
The incident came to light on Sunday afternoon, after the woman filed a rape case with Magura Sadar police station against five unknown persons.
The police sent the woman to a hospital, where her medical examination was completed.
Magura police station Officer-in-Charge Joynal Abedin said a drive has been started to arrest the rapists.
