A woman has been gang-raped in Narsingdi, after allegedly being lured out of the house with the false promise of marriage.
The incident took place on Tuesday night, at Kundarpara in Shibpur upazila of the district.
The survivor filed a case accusing three people with Shibpur Model police station on Wednesday night.
Police arrested two of the accused - Akhter Hossain, 30, and Rahim Khan, 32, residents of Saherchar area of Raipura upazila - by raiding different places after receiving the complaint.
The third accused, Momen alias Monaim Khan, 28, is absconding.
According to the case, the woman, a separated mother of one, works at a candle factory in Sadar upazila. She got romantically involved with Akhter Hossain, brother of her colleague Salma Akhter, who introduced the two.
On Tuesday, Akhter asked the woman out, promising they would get married. Along with Akhter’s associates Rahim and Momen, they travelled to different places on a CNG-run autorickshaw.
At one point, the trio took the woman to a paddy field in Kundarpara and raped her. They then fled the scene after threatening to kill her.
When contacted, Shibpur Model police station OC Abul Kalam said the survivor had been sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for a medical examination on Thursday.
Police are working to arrest the third accused, he added.
