A sixth grader girl has been raped reportedly by a school teacher, who is also her neighbour, in Gobindaganj upazila, Gaibandha.
The girl's mother filed a case against Nure Alam Mondal, an assistant teacher of Ramchandrapur High School, with Gobindaganj police station on Saturday night.
Quoting the girl's mother, officer-in-charge (investigation) Afzal Hossain of the police station said: "Nure Alam went to his neighbour's house on Friday evening and raped the girl when he found her alone at home. He escaped after locals rushed to the spot hearing the girl's scream."

"The girl will be sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre of Gaibandha District Hospital on Sunday. Police have continued their drives to arrest the accused," Afzal added.
