Man shot dead by Rohingya criminal in Cox’s Bazar

Panic spread among locals in Teknaf and Nayapara Rohingya camp after the incident

A young man has been shot dead allegedly by a Rohingya criminal in Shalbagan Nayapara area of Teknaf's Hnila union in Cox’s Bazar.

The deceased Abdus Shukkur, 30, a resident of the area, was shot in broad daylight around 10am Thursday.

Informed, a police team recovered the body and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. 

“We are trying to arrest the persons behind the murder,” said Abdul Alim, officer-in-charge (Investigation), Teknaf police station.

Victim’s uncle Abul Hashem told Dhaka Tribune that a group of armed criminals from the Shalbagan Rohingya camp broke into the house Thursday morning and dragged Abdus Shukkur out before shooting him in broad daylight.

As they were returning back to their camp, the gang members also threatened to kill Abul Hasem, the victim’s uncle added.

Following the incident,  APBn personnel from the Rohingya camp and police of Teknaf police station arrived at the scene of the crime.
