He came home on holiday a few days ago
Police have recovered the hanging body of an army official from Tala upazila in Satkhira.
The deceased was identified as Chandra Shekhar Sarkar, 22. He is the son of Nimai Sarkar of Magura village in the upazila.
Sarkar’s body was found in the early hours of Saturday from the porch of the Social Development Foundation, which is next to his house. His body was hanging from the wooden frame of the porch with a towel wrapped around his neck.
Quoting the Sarkar’s relatives, Tala police station Officer in-Charge (OC) Md Mehedi Russell said: "He was serving in the Bangladesh Army in Cox's Bazar area. A few days ago he came home on holiday.”
Police primarily suspect the incident to be a suicide; however, family members of Sarkar could not say what caused the incident.
The OC said police visited the scene on Saturday morning. The deceased’s body will be sent to the morgue for autopsy.
Magura Union Parishad Chairman Ganesh Debnath said Sarkar’s family was talking about his marriage recently.
