The victim was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment
A garment worker was allegedly violated by an unidentified man in Dakhshinpara area of Savar on Sunday night.
Following the incident, the victim filed a complaint with Savar Model police station.
A F M Sayed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Savar Model police station, said that when the female worker was returning from her workplace, the man forcibly took her to an abandoned place and violated her.
Tipped-off, police rushed to the spot, but by then the man had already escaped.
The worker was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital to receive treatment.
Incidents of rape have been piling up at recent times in Bangladesh. In most cases, women have been gang-raped. Even children and the disabled have not been spared.
Human rights activists are blaming a lack of justice for the string of crimes.
