RAB seizes a number of leaflets and books promoting extremism from their possession
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained three suspected members of the banned militant outfit Allahr Dal from Sodapir Bazar of Rangpur's Pirganj upazila.
RAB also seized a number of leaflets and books promoting extremism from their possession, said Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Siddik Ahmed, media officer of RAB-13, on Sunday.
The detained were: Md Rezaul Karim Khandakar, alias Karim, son of Lutfur Rahman Khandokar from Nokharpara; Md Sultan Mahmud, son of Md Belal Miya from Sakin Dariyapur; and Md Nr Alam, son of MA Bari from Sang Dhanasanga; all of them are from Pirganj upazila in Rangpur.
Among the arrested, Md Sultan is a first year college student. All of them are active members of the militant group and followed their leader, one Matin Mehedi, RAB said.
The arrested paid monthly fees for their membership in the group and had been active in misleading religious muslims into the outfit by "distorting religious interpretation," RAB said.
Legal actions have been taken against the three arrested, ASP Siddik said
