The investigation report revealed that Godagari Government College Principal Abdur Rahman misappropriated TK 72,42,730 from the college fund
A Rajshahi court on Monday sent a college principal to jail on corruption charges.
District and Session Judge Meer Shafiqul Islam passed the order of sending Abdur Rahman, Principal of Godagari Government College, to jail when he appeared before the court seeking bail.
Jahangir Alom, deputy director of the Anti Corruption Commission‘s Integrated Office in Rajshahi, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Last year, Umrul Haque, Vice-principal of the college, had lodged a corruption case against the principal with the court.
After taking the case into cognizance, the court asked the integrated district office of Anti Corruption Commission for investigation.
Alamgir Hossain, Assistant Director of the ACC’s Integrated District Office, investigated the case.
The investigation report revealed that principal Abdur Rahman misappropriated TK 72,42,730 from the college fund.
Jahangir Alam said he had submitted a charge-sheet to the court accusing the principal earlier.
But he remained absconding for long. When he appeared seeking bail on Monday, the court sent him to jail after rejecting his bail prayer.
