Police have recovered a body of a youth with his eyes gouged out in Feni.
The body was recovered beside an abandoned toilet in the district’s Purba Ruhitia village of Sadar upazila around 11am on Sunday, confirmed Feni Model police station Inspector (Investigation) Omar Haider.
The deceased, Salman Hossain Shipon, 25, who worked as a sanitation worker in Dhaka, had returned to his home in Feni on Friday.
According to the police and locals, there were injury marks found on several parts of Shipon's body including his genitals. Even the veins of his hands were cut, they added.
The Feni Model police station inspector told Dhaka Tribune that after being informed about the incident, top officials of Feni’s law enforcement agencies visited the crime scene.
“We are investigating the matter with utmost importance,” the inspector added.
Shipon went missing on Saturday evening.
Locals informed the police after seeing Shipon’s body on Sunday morning.
“The body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue of Feni General Hospital for autopsy,” Inspector Omar added.
