Delwar has also been shown arrested in a case filed for the murder of two people in 2018
Delwar Hossain, the prime accused in cases linked to the gang-rape and torture of a woman in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali, has been remanded for altogether seven days in three different cases.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Mashfiqul Haque on Sunday granted the remand and also approved an appeal of showing Delwar arrested in a case filed in the double murders committed in Eklashpur in 2018.
Public Prosecutor Guljar Ahmed Juel confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier on October 4, Rapid Action Battalion arrested Delwar with arms in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj.
Later, police interrogated Delwar for two days in remand in an Arms case filed by RAB.
On September 2, a criminal gang broke into a woman’s house, tied up her husband in the next room and tried to rape her. When she defended herself, they stripped her naked, beat her up, violated and recorded a video of the whole thing – which later went viral on social media on Sunday.
Subsequently, the rape survivor filed a rape case against Delwar, chief of "Delwar Bahini", and his second-in-command Abul Kalam Tuesday night at Begumganj Model police station.
Delwar had raped the woman twice on gunpoint over the last year, while Abul Kalam had attempted to rape her once, according to the case statement.
