Woman confined, gang-raped for 3 days in Madaripur

A woman has reportedly been gang-raped by three people while she was confined for three days in a rented flat after abduction.

The woman was kept confined in a flat of Kolagachhia village in Madaripur Sadar upazila from Tuesday to Friday, during which she was raped.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday morning rescued the woman after she managed to inform them about her situation over the phone.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Iftekharuzzaman, acting in-charge of RAB-8 CPC-3 confirmed the matter through a press release on Friday night.

The woman is 28 years old and a mother of one. After RAB rescued her, she filed a rape case accusing three at Madaripur Sadar police station.

The accused were: Faruk Hossain Bepari, 45, son of Latif Bepari of Panichhatra area in Madaripur town; Liton Hawlader, son of Abdul Mannan Hawlader of Mohisherchar village; Taiyeb Ali Hawlader, 48, son of Balun Ali Hawlader, also of Mohisherchar village.

Among the accused RAB detained Faruk from the house in Kolagachhia village where the woman was raped. Later RAB held  Liton and Taiyeb from Panichhatra area, says the press release. RAB handed over the accused to Madaripur Sadar police station.

On Tuesday, the suspects led by Faruk Hossain abducted the woman from her house in Madaripur town and abducted her to the house in Kolagachhia.
