Police recovered the bodies of a woman and her two children from a ditch beside her in-laws’ house at Shialdangi village in Ranishankail upazila of Thakurgaon early Thursday.
Ranishankail police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AK Zahid confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The deceased were identified as Arida Khatun, 32 and his son Arafat, 5 and daughter Akhi Akhtar, 10.
OC AK Zahid said: "After being informed, police recovered the dead bodies on early Thursday. We have inspected the area and are investigating the matter with utmost important.”
Deceased’s Arida’s father in-laws Sirajul Islam claimed she committed suicide after killing her two children. However, contradicting version of Sirajul, housewife Arida’s uncle Alauddin claimed the trio were murdered in a planned way.
Regarding the matter, Tofazzal Hossain, assistant superintendent of police (Ranishankail circle) said: “We can confirm the cause of death after recieving forensic and autopsy reports.”
