Six out of the nine accused have been arrested so far
Two more people have been arrested in connection with the Noakhali rape case.
Moazzem Hossain, 48, a ward 9 councillor under Eklashpur union was arrested from Begumganj, while Raju, 21, son of Lokman of East Eklashpur under Begumjanj was arrested from Dhaka on Monday night.
Begumganj police station Officer-In-Charge (OC) Harun-ur-Rashid Chowdhury confirmed the matter on Tuesday.
The victim in her statement said she went to Moazzem for help but the councillor refused to help her, the OC said.
A total of six people have been arrested in connection with the case, till now.
On Monday, Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Masfikul Haque placed two of the accused Abdur Rahim, 20, and Rahmat Ullah, 41, on a six-day remand in two cases.

The remand was granted for three days for each case after police produced them before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
Both accused are residents of Joykrishnapur village of the upazila.
The two cases were filed over raping a housewife after stripping her naked and filming the video of the incident in Begumganj upazila.
The court's General Recording Officer (GRO) Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Md Sohel Rana said the two accused were remanded under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and the Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Badal, the prime accused, and Delowar, chief of Delowar Bahini, from Dhaka and Narayanganj early Monday. Later Delowar was handed over to Begumganj police.
On Sunday night, the victim filed the cases against nine people with Begumganj Model police station.
The incident occurred in Noakhali's Begumganj upazila at Joykrishnapur village of Eklashpur union on September 2.
The video footage of five men raping the woman went viral on social media platforms on Sunday and raised concerns among netizens.
