A man reportedly stabbed his wife, also a mother of three, to death in Jamalpur town over marital disputes.
The incident took place in the Maddhyapara Kompopur area of Jamalpur Sadar upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Fatema Begum, 35, confirmed Jamalpur Sasdar Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Salemuzzaman.
The murder suspect, Sayeed Ali, a grocery storekeeper has been absconding since the incident. Locals said the deceased is Sayeed's fourth wife.
Around 10:30pm on Sunday, Sayeed locked the door of his house from the inside when two of his children were sleeping with their mother and his ninth grader daughter Sabina was outside, according to locals.
Shortly after, Sayeed quickly left the spot locking the house door while Sabina was still outside.
When Sabina sought her neighbours help to break the lock of the door open, they found Fatema's blood soaked body lying on the floor.
Jamalpur Sadar Police OC Salemuzzaman said police are trying to arrest Sayeed Ali. A case will be filed in connection with the incident.
