Sixth-grader raped in Rangamati

Police on Saturday, arrested him from the hotel in Rangamati a day after the alleged incident of rape had taken place

A sixth-grader of a madrasa had reportedly been raped after she was taken to a hotel in Rangamati.

The accused has been identified as Sajjad Hossain, a resident of Gabtol village in Rangunia upazila, Chittagong, reports Bangla Tribune.

Police on Saturday, arrested him from the hotel in Rangamati a day after the alleged incident of rape had taken place.

Confirming the matter, Rangunia police station Sub-Inspector Robiul Islam said: "On Friday around 6pm, Sajjad and one of his friends forced the girl to go to Rangamati with them. There Sajjad raped the girl in Bonorupa Hotel.

"That night the girl's family made a complaint at the police station. After receiving the complaint we at first located their whereabouts by using technology. Then we rescued the girl from the hotel. Afterwards Sajjad was arrested on Saturday morning. We are trying to arrest his associate,” added SI Robiul.

He further said Sajjad used to know the girl due to which he was able to force her to go to Rangamati. "He gave his confessional statement in front of court."
