The gold bars are worth Tk5 crore and 30 lakhs, says BGB
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained three people with 56 gold bars from Hoaikhang of Cox's Bazar Teknaf on Thursday.
The detainees were identified as Monir Alam, 38, Mamunur Rashid, 18, and Nur Mohammad, 36, all from Cox's Bazar, reports Bangla Tribune.
They were smuggling the gold bars brought from Myanmar worth Tk5 crore and 30 lakhs into Rohingya camps , said Lt Col Ali Haider Azad, commanding officer of Cox's Bazar BGB battalion 34.
"Legal action is being taken against the detainees," Lt Col Ali added.
