Man mercilessly beaten over theft allegations in Sirajganj

A man was mercilessly beaten, and his fingers were crushed with pliers in Kamarkhand upazila of Sirajganj.

The videos of the torture went viral on Facebook on Friday. The prime aggressor has been on the run since the incident.

Locals identified the attacker as Happy Hossain, a fish hatchling trader of Jamtail Collegepara village in Sirajganj's Kamarkhand upazila. The victim who had been tied to a tree during the torture is yet to be identified.

The video clip shows that Happy had been saying to the victim: "I have already broken two of your fingers. I will break the rest of them as well, if you don't give me the names of the other thieves.”

The victim was let go after being tortured for about two hours.

Kamarkhand Upazila Parishad Chairman Shahidullah Sobuj said: "I have seen the incident on social media. It was a barbarous thing to do and totally unacceptable. I informed the police right away. Kamarkhand police station OC is currently trying to locate him."
