Youth arrested with weapons in Teknaf Rohingya camp

A case has been filed with Teknaf police station under the relevant law

Armed Battalion (APBN) members arrested a young man with weapons from Teknaf Rohingya Camp in Cox's Bazar. 

He was identified as Md Rabiul Islam, 25, of south-eastern Palangpara village in Alikadam upazila of Bandarban district.

The youth was detained during a raid in the hills west of block I of the Rohingya refugee camp registered in the Nayapara area of Teknaf upazila on Wednesday. 

Superintendent of Cox's Bazar 16 APBN Mohammad Hemayetul Islam said a team of APBN, working at the Rohingya camp, led by Inspector Rakibul Islam, conducted the operation. 

The accused Md Rabiul Islam was arrested during the raid. Based on his confession, a shuttergun and 36 rounds of ammunition were recovered wrapped in black polythene. 

The detainee said during interrogation that he was a member of Rohingya terrorist Khaleq Bahini’s gang, added Mohammad Hemayul. 

He has been involved in various crimes including robbery and kidnapping in the hills along with other associates. 

A case has been filed with Teknaf police station under the relevant law.
