Police on Monday night took two more people into custody for interrogation in connection with the attack on Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam and her father freedom fighter Omor Ali.

The detained were UNO's car driver Hafiz and another Yasin. They are currently being interrogated at the Ghoraghat police station in Dinajpur.

The law enforcers have so far arrested three people, including prime suspect Asadul Islam, and all of them were remanded for their alleged involvement in the attack.

Besides police, Detective Branch of Police and the Rapid Action Battalion have been taking different people into their custody for interrogation and releasing them, according to sources from Ghoraghat police station.

One of the two domestic helps, both of whom were detained earlier on  Monday, was released by police.

Since Saturday, Ghoraghat police have been interrogating the prime suspect's younger brother, a gardener, and an office staff in their custody.

Contacted, Rangpur’s Deputy Commissioner Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan assured that all legal action will be taken against the responsible people behind the incident.

He said: “I have my full faith in the law enforcers who are handling the case. The investigation is ongoing and nothing can be commented on the matter before its completes.”

On Thursday, Wahida Khanam was seriously injured in an attack by miscreants who broke into her official residence in Ghoraghat.

Her father, Omar Ali, was also injured in the gruesome attack. They were taken to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital.

Later, the UNO was airlifted from Rangpur to Dhaka by a Bangladesh Air Force MI-171SH helicopter.

On Friday, UNO's brother Farid Uddin lodged a case in connection with the attack against unknown assailants at Ghoraghat police station.
