The three key accused were produced in court following completion of their second remand
A Cox’s Bazar court has granted a 3-day remand for the three key accused including suspended officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar Das in the murder case of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.
The three key accused, also including suspended inspector Liaqat Ali and sub-inspector Nanda Dulal Raxit, were produced in the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court around 3pm Friday.
Judge Tamanna Farah granted Rapid Action Battalion three more days to grill the accused when the case Investigation Officer ASP Khairul Islam of RAB 15 appealed to the court for four days.
Meanwhile, a panel of lawyers led by Advocate Ahsanul Haque Hena appeared in court from Chittagong seeking bail for the three key accused and cancellation of their remand.
After a lengthy hearing, Judge Tamanna denied the accused bail and remanded each for three days.
IO Khairul Islam said that since the case was a sensitive one, additional time was required for further questioning in the interest of a proper investigation.
Major (retd.) Sinha was shot dead at Shamlapur check post on the night of July 31 on his way back to Nilima Resort in Himchhari of Cox's Bazar on Marine Drive after filming a video on Marishbunia hill in Teknaf.
Following the incident, nine policemen were accused in the murder case filed by Sinha's sister Sharmin Shahriar.
