Two women were killed reportedly by their partners in Kurigram and Tangail on Friday and another woman was allegedly killed by her husband in Narsingdi on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Anwara Begum, 40, of Kurigram, Shabnur Akhter Khadija, 20, of Tangail and Reshmi Akhter, 30 of Narsingdi.

In Kurigram, a woman was killed reportedly by her husband over a familial dispute in the Azoatari village of Phulbari upazila on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Anwara Begum, 40, daughter of late Johur Ali, confirmed Phulbari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rajib Kumar Roy.

Police arrested the woman's husband Najir Hossain after a murder case was filed in connection to the incident, said OC Rajib, adding that the body has been sent for autopsy.

According to locals, at one point during an argument between Najir and Anwara, Najir hacked at Anwara with a sharp weapon, which killed her on the spot around 11pm on Friday.

Najir went to sleep after the incident. Finding Anwara dead, locals caught Najir and handed him over to police, locals said.

In Tangail, police recovered the body of Khadija from Shahapara area of Tangail municipality on Friday night.

Police primarily suspected that her lover Abdul Khalek, 28, a driver by occupation, had strangled Khadija to death and left their rented flat in Shahapara on Friday.

Tangail Model police station OC Mir Mosharrof Hossain on Saturday said: "Five days ago Khalek and Khadija rented a flat in the Shahpara area, telling the house owner that they were husband and wife. On Friday, Khalek shut their house door from outside and left the flat in the afternoon. It is possible that they were not married but had a relationship."

As other tenants of the building had not heard from Khalek and Khadija the whole evening, they informed the police who then found Khadija’s body in the flat, the OC continued.

The body has been sent for autopsy and police arrested  Khalek, OC Mir added.

In Narsingdi, Reshmi, a mother of two, had been living apart from her estranged husband in a rented house in Bilashdi area since the last two years, said police.

Her husband Shamsul Haque, 45, of Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria called her to Al Mamun Hotel in Narsingdi town on Saturday. As Reshmi went there, an argument broke out between the two and Shamsul hacked her to death, according to police.

A staff member of the hotel informed police when he saw a stream of blood coming out from the hotel room, and afterwards police recovered the woman's body.

Narsingdi Sadar Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Biplob Kumar Dutt Choudhury said: "We are interrogating Shamsul after detaining him. The woman's body was sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.”
