A youth, said to be drug addict, committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling of his house in Madhabdi upazila, Narsingdi.
According to information, Sohan Khandaker, 22, took the extreme step after his family refused to give him money for buying drugs.
He reportedly severed his hands out of agony and finally took his life on Tuesday morning, family sources said.
Subal Chandra, sub-inspector of Madhabdi police station, said: “Being informed by the family, we recovered Sohan’s dead body from the house and sent it for autopsy at Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.”
“Sohan was a drug addict and it seems in the primary investigation that he died after being denied money for buying drugs,” added the officer.
