A 15-year-old schoolgirl girl was reportedly gang-raped and murdered by a man with whom she had a relationship in Narayanganj, said police.
Since July 4, the victim has been missing. Narayanganj Sadar Model police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shamim Al Mamun said she was murdered and the body was dumped into the Shitalakshya River.
On Thursday, an abduction case was filed against one Abdullah, 22, by the victim's father Jahangir Hossain at Narayanganj Sadar model police station.
Jahangir said: "Abdullah made proposals of relationship to my daughter when she used to go to school. He was warned more than once not to do that and he threatened to abduct my daughter.
"On July 4, my daughter went to meet Abdullah to an address provided to her by phone, and Abdullah and his associates abducted her," Jahangir added.
Police arrested Abdullah, with whom the victim reportedly had a relationship, Rakib, 19, Abdullah's friend and an autorickshaw driver, and a boatman Khalilur Rahman, 36, in connection with the rape and murder.
Separate courts of Senior Judicial Magistrate Militon Hossain and Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Humayun recorded the statements of the arrestees on Sunday, confirmed SI Mamun, who is the case investigation officer.
SI Mamun said: "We could locate Rakib (autorickshaw driver) after we checked the call list on the girl's mother’s phone. Abdullah used to contact the girl through Rakib's phone."
On the day of the incident he used the same phone. Following the arrest of Rakib, Abdullah and boatman Khalilur were arrested, both of whom confessed to the rape and murder, said the SI, adding that the arrestees are currently in jail.
Quoting Abdullah, police said the victim developed a romantic relationship with Abdullah around three months before and they used to communicate over the phone.
On the afternoon of July 4, the victim and Abdullah went on a tour in Rakib's autorickshaw to different parts of Bandar upazila. In the evening they hired a boat from the no 5 ghat of Bandar and the girl was raped on the vessel by Abdullah and the boatman Khalilur.
When the girl said she would make a complaint regarding her rape, Abdullah and Khalilur strangled her to death and later dumped her body to the Shitalakshya river around 9pm.
