Police have arrested three men for reportedly looting a family and raping a ninth-grader in Chinai union of Rajarhat upazila, Kurigram.
The arrestees, Abdus Salam, 42, Abdul Malek, 38, and Abul Kalam Azad are members of an inter-district robber syndicate, police say.
They were arrested at different times of last week and two of them were issued five-day-remand each from the court, said Mohibul Islam, superintendent of police in a press conference held at his office on Sunday.

“This case was complicated as the witnesses were unable to identify the perpetrators. But we tracked their mobile phones and eventually succeeded to arrest them,” said the officer.
On July 26, the three robbers broke into the house to loot their valuables. After beating the parents, prime accused Abdus Salam took the ninth-grader girl to an adjacent field and raped her, while the others kept a watch, police said in a statement.
After the incident, locals rescued the injured girl and her family and took them to a hospital. A case was filed the next day.
