The accidents took place in five districts on Thursday
At least seven people have been killed in separate road accidents in five districts on Thursday.
In Manikganj, two people have been killed and ten more injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway near Muljan around 9am.
The deceased Yasmin Begum, 40, was an employee of Muljan Palli Bidyut Office and her husband, Humayun Ahmed, was reportedly an employee of Dhaka City Corporation.
Abdur Rashid Mridha, senior general manager of Manikganj Palli Bidyut Office said, a Paturia-bound local bus hit and ran over a motorcycle carrying the couple, killing Humayun on the spot.
Yasmin was declared dead after being taken to a hospital, he added.
Confirming the incident Golra Highway police outpost OC Monirul Islam said: “We seized the bus but its driver is on the run. We are trying to arrest him.”
In Kurigram, a man and his sister-in-law were killed when the motorcycle carrying them was rear-ended by a speeding truck in Aynaler Chatal in Bhurungamari upazila in the afternoon.
The deceased Shahjahan, 32, and his sister-in-law Nazma Begum, 22, were found dead on the spot by the locals after the accident, said Bhurungamari police OC Atiyar Rahman.
In Brahmanbaria, a four-year-old boy was run over and killed by an auto-rickshaw in Mohammadpur of Ramrail union under Sadar upazila around 6pm.
The deceased Md Walid was the son of Sohel Miya of the municipality.
“The boy was crossing the road when the auto-rickshaw ran him over, severely injuring him. Doctor’s at Sadar Hospital were unable to save him because of the severe trauma to the head,” said Brahmanbaria Sadar Model police station OC Selim Uddin.
In Dinajpur, a motorcyclist was killed after a bus hit his vehicle near Motihar bazar in Nawabganj upazila in the afternoon.
The victim Md Nuruzzman, 30, died on the way to a hospital, confirmed Nawabganj police OC Ashok Kumar.
Police seized the bus but its driver is on the run, he added.
In Bogra, a man was hit and killed by an auto-rickshaw on the Bogra-Naogaon Highway in Adamdighi in the afternoon.
The deceased Abdul Gafur, 65, a street beggar, was walking to a market when the incident occurred, confirmed Adamdighi police station SI Ayub Ali.
