Liakat Ali Badal, the Rangpur district correspondent for Dhaka Tribune, has been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
His Covid-19 test result came back as positive on Tuesday.
On Saturday, Liakat fell ill with symptoms similar to those of Covid-19 including fever and sore throat. Later, healthcare workers collected his sample from his residence for a Covid-19 test.
Chief of the Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College (RMC) Professor Dr AKM Nurunnabi Laizu confirmed the matter.
Liakat is currently being treated at his residence under the supervision of his physician.
