Dhaka-bound coach of Himachal Paribahan overturned on the road while crossing Harikhola area of the upazila
At least two people were killed and five others injured when a bus overturned on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Chandina upazila of Comilla Sunday morning.
The deceased are yet to be identified.
Molla Mohammad Shahin, additional superintendent of police (Comilla regional highway), confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said the incident took place in the morning when a Dhaka-bound coach of Himachal Paribahan overturned on the road while crossing Harikhola area of the upazila, leaving two people dead on the spot.
On information, police and firefighters went to the spot, rescued the injured, and took them to Chandina Upazila Health Complex.
A case was filed with Chandina police station over the incident.
Cop dies in hospital after road crash
A police constable was killed while undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) Sunday morning, reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Rahul Barua, 22, police constable and son of Prakash Barua, hailed from no. 8 East Gujra Chadangaekheel of Raozan police station in Chittagong.
The cop was admitted at the hospital on Saturday evening after being in a road accident in front of the Cotton Development Board in Balaghata area of the district, said Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bandarban Sadar police station.
Shahidul Islam said the accident occurred when Rahul lost control over the steering of his motorcycle in the area, leaving him critically injured.
Rahul was taken to CMCH where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, the OC said, adding “Two pedestrians were also injured in the incident.”
