Another decapitated body recovered in Ramu
Two drug peddlers have been killed in a shootout with police in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.
Weapons, ammunition and yaba were recovered from the spot.
The incident took place at Whykong West Maheshkhalia Para in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police claim that three policemen named SI Mashiur Rahman, Constable Abhijit Das and Emran Hossain were injured in the incident.
The deceased were identified as Saddam Hossain, 20, son of late Sultan Ahmed of Hnila Moulvibazar area and Abdul Jalil, 30, son of Ali Ahmed of Maheshkhalia Para area of Whykong West.
Teknaf Model police station OC Pradeep Kumar Das said a gunfight took place with an armed terrorist group involved in the yaba trade while conducting an anti-drug operation.
When the miscreants started firing and injured three members of the police, police then retaliated in self-defence.
After both sides stopped firing, they rescued two young men who had been shot. When they were taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty referred them to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment. Upon arrival, the doctor on duty pronounced the two dead.
Meanwhile, police recovered a decapitated body from the west side of the Ramu Government College gate. Ramu police recovered the body of the unidentified man on Tuesday morning.
The bodies have been sent to the morgue of Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
