The victim is still stranded in Vietnam, living under inhumane conditions
Police arrested a suspected broker of human trafficking from Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh district on Saturday night.
The arrestee is Kazi Saleh Ahmed Osmani alias Masa, resident of Titpur village under Phulpur upazila.
Assistant Inspector General (media) of the Police Headquarters Md Sohel Rana said that the arrested broker sent a young man to Vietnam upon receiving Tk350,000 a few days ago.
Masa lured the young man by promising him a salary of around Tk55,000, free medical services, food, and accommodation from the company for which he would supposedly work. Masa also promised that the company would pick him up from the airport in Vietnam, he said.
Upon arriving at the airport in Vietnam the young man realized that he was misled and even his job was not arranged, added the AIG.
Although nobody was there to pick him up, he was able to get in touch with those that he was supposed to work for. When he eventually made his way to their premises, he was locked and tortured.
Thankfully, the young man was able to inform Mymensingh DB Police of the incident by sending a message to their Facebook page inbox.
The police responded by arresting the broker, added Sohel Rana.
However, the victim is still stranded in Vietnam, living under inhumane conditions.
