Fourteen more people tested positive for the virus, taking the number of infected to 146 in the district
A deceased man's samples tested positive for Covid-19 for the first time in Satkhira district, omitting the region from the handful of districts which officially hadn't reported any deaths until now.
The seventy-year-old man, identified as Anil Biswas was admitted to Debhata Upazila Health Complex with breathing problems on Monday.
His samples were sent for a test the next day following his passing. The reports came positive on Friday, confirmed Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer (UHFPO) Abdul Latif.
In the past 24 hours, 14 more people tested positive of the virus taking the number of infected to 146 in the district, confirmed Dr Jayanta Sarkar, medical officer at the district's civil surgeon office.
As of Friday evening, Joypurhat, Chapainawabganj, and Kurigram, out of the 64 districts in the country, are yet to record any Covid-19 deaths
Bangladesh recorded a total of 130,474 cases of the deadly disease until now, and among those 1,661 people died while 53,133 recovered.
