Confirming the matter, Teknaf police station Officer-in-Charge(OC) Pradeep Kumar Das said a team of police conducted a raid at Hoaikong hilly areas at around 10:30am to catch the infamous robber Abdul Hakim.
"Sensing the police presence, the associates of Hakim opened fire, forcing us to fire back."
"At one point, the robbers retreated into the hills. Police later recovered four injured robbers from the scene and took them to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors pronounced them dead." Pradeep said.
" Police recovered 40,000 yaba pills from the scene, the OC added."
Regarding the matter, Cox's Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Iqbal Bahar said: "Abdul Hakim and his associates have been committing robbery, murder, abduction, and rapes near the bordering areas of Ukhiya and Teknaf upazilas in Cox's Bazar from a long time now."
"We conducted many raids to arrest Abdul Hakim, but he managed to flee every time police conducted a raid. This time also gang-leader Hakim fled from the scene, but police are trying to detain him.” Iqbal Bahar added.
