A 14-year-old teenage girl was gang-raped allegedly by her home tutor and his two accomplices in Singair upazila of Manikganj.
The rape suspect Ruhul Amin Rubel, 32, was primarily accused among four others in a case filed by the girl’s father on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, police on Wednesday arrested one Jamila Khatun, 38, the second accused in the case, for aiding in the gang rape.
Singair police station Inspector (Investigation) Md Abul Kalam said: “We have already arrested one Jamila Khatun and she has confessed to her crimes during primary interrogation. We will soon arrest the remaining suspects.”
According to the case statement, Rubel was the girl's home tutor and he used to make inappropriate advances at her and often offered to take her out.
On June 9, when the girl went to visit her grandparents in Baimile, Rubel called her to meet him and took her to Uttar Seota in the district town. There Jamila Khatun provided the room for Rubel to rape the girl. Subsequently, she was held captive there for three days and was gang-raped by Rubel’s two other accomplices.
Three days into her disappearance, her mother received a phone call from her describing what had happened to her. Later, she was rescued by her family members.
The girl is currently undergoing treatment at the Manikganj Sadar Hospital.
