The detainee, during primary interrogation, confessed to participating in secret meetings and in regular recruitment of militant members throughout the country
The Rapid Action Battalion has detained a suspected member of the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Rajoir of Madaripur.
Personnel of RAB-8 carried out a drive in the area and arrested the suspect on Sunday evening.
The detainee, Khokon Miah, 27, has confessed to being an active member of the militant group. He also admitted to being involved in the recruitment of members for the banned militant outfit, RAB sources said.
“We came to know of Khokon’s whereabouts through multiple confessions of his associates, whom we had arrested previously,” said Mukur Chakma, additional superintendent of police and media officer of RAB-8.
During primary interrogation, the detainee confessed to participating in secret meetings and in regularly recruiting militants to the banned outfit throughout the country, he added.
Legal action would be initiated against the detainee and his accomplices would be brought to book based on intelligence information, the RAB officer further said.
