The recently appointed Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Kushtia has been infected by the new coronavirus, just three days after the diagnosis of Deputy Commissioner Aslam Hossain.
ADC Sirajul Islam is among 15 others, including a journalist and a banker, to have tested positive for the deadly virus in the last 24 hours, confirmed Kushtia Civil Surgeon Dr AHM Anwarul Islam.
He said that a total of 15 samples came back as positive among the 200 reports received from the PCR lab at Kushtia Medical College on Tuesday.
Earlier on Saturday, Kushtia DC Aslam Hossain tested positive for Covid-19.
Until Saturday, 153 people have so far tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Kushtia.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh has reported 3,171 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the number of confirmed cases to 71,675, while 45 more patients died from the virus during the same period, raising the death toll to 975.
