The arrestee was identified as Mintu Mondal,24, reports a correspondent in Shariatpur.
He was arrested after the victim's father filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Naria police station.
Hafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Naria police station, was speaking to Dhaka Tribune on the issue.
The OC said the accused Mintu lured the child into a deserted home on the pretext of giving her seasonal fruits on Sunday afternoon and then raped her. The victim was warned not to disclose the incident to her parents.
However, upon returning home, the child, who was bleeding from the assault, informed her parents.
Subsequently, the victim's father filed a case against Mintu with Naria police station. Police early on Monday arrested the accused.
Mintu was sent to jail following a court order on Monday noon. Meanwhile, the girl has been undergoing treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital, added the OC.
