The incidents all occured on Saturday
At least seven people were killed in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Moulvibazar, Habiganj, and Manikganj on Saturday.
In Moulvibazar, three people—including a child—were struck by lighting and killed when they were out working during a storm in Barlekha and Kamalganj upazila.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Matin, 55, Rubel Ahmed, 25, and Abdul Latif, 12.
Abdul Matin went to work in a vegetable field near his house in Gallasangan village of Barlekha upazila, when he was struck by lightning, killing him on the spot, confirmed local union council member Rashid Ahmad.
Meanwhile, Rubel was struck when he was fishing in a canal at Kazirband area in the same upazila, confirmed Barlekha police station OC Md Yasinul Haque.
Lastly, Abdul Latif was struck by lightning when he was bringing home his cow from Dakkhin Goler Haor in Kamalganj upazila. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the upazila health complex.
In Habiganj, three people including two teenagers were killed after being struck by lightning in Ajmiriganj and Shayestaganj upazila.
The deceased were identified as Marafat Ali, 17, Robin Miya, 17, and Askir Miya, 50, all of Habiganj.
Marfat and Robin were killed and three of their friends were injured when they were struck by lightning while they were fishing in Ajmiriganj haor, confirmed Ajmiriganj police station OC Mosharrof Hossain Tarafdar.
Meanwhile, Askir, also went fishing in Shayestaganj upazila when he was hit by a lightning bolt and was severely injured.
The duty doctor of Habiganj Sadar Hospital declared Askir dead after he was taken there by locals, said Shayestaganj police station OC Mozammel Haque.
In Manikganj, a schoolteacher died and four others injured after they were struck by lightning in Sadar upazila.
The deceased identified as Md Jahangir Alam, was a teacher at local government primary school.
Jahangir was threshing paddy when the incident took place, confirmed family members. The victim has left behind two daughters and his wife.
