Parash appeared in this year's SSC examinations from Madna Model High School
A student reportedly committed suicide in Lakhai upazila of Habiganj on Sunday after she failed in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.
The deceased, identified as Parash Moni was the daughter of Jamal Miah from Begunai village of the upazila, said Lakhai police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saidul Islam Monir.
Parash appeared in this year's SSC examinations from Madna Model High School, added the OC.
According to the locals, Parash took poison after she found herself failed in the SSC result published on Sunday noon.
Later, she was taken to Habiganj Modern Hospital where duty doctors declared her dead.
On Sunday, the results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations under 11 education boards were published, with an 82.87% pass rate.
The results have been published online only, not physically at the institutions, for the first time in the country's history, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, which has so far infected more than 44,600 people and killed over 600 around the country.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the results through a videoconference from her official residence, Ganabhaban, in Dhaka.
A total of 1,690,523 students out of 2,040,028 have successfully passed the SSC and equivalent exams this year.
