She was accused of assisting in the gang-rape of her daughter
A 30-year-old woman filed a case against six people, including her mother, after being reportedly gang-raped in Sakhipur upazila of Tangail.
Acting on the case, police arrested her mother and two others on Tuesday night and sent them to jail following a court order Wednesday morning.
The arrestees were identified as the victim’s mother Afuza Begum, 55, Abdul Kader, 70, of the city, and Abdur Rahman, 40, of Kachua.
According to the case statement, the woman lived with her husband in ward 5 of the municipality city. On Monday night, her mother called her over to the iron bridge in Kirtonkhola on an urgent matter. When she reached the spot, two masked men abducted her on a motorcycle while her mother did nothing to stop it.
Subsequently, she was taken to an isolated location and gang-raped there all night, during which time she was able to recognize five men.
Later on Tuesday evening, she filed a case with Sakhipur police station, accusing six people, including her mother, for assisting in her gang rape
Sakhipur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AHM Lutful Kabir said: “We have arrested three suspects in the case filed over the gang rape of a woman. The arrestees have been sent to jail following a court order on Wednesday.”
Meanwhile, the woman was sent to Tangail General Hospital for medical treatment, he added.
